After developing a career in the culinary world as a cook, recipe tester and critic, Berit Jane Soli-Holt began bartending in Minneapolis, MN when she stepped down from general restaurant management to write her master’s thesis in 2009. Currently Kitchen Manager at The Aviary, working with The Office as well, Berit Jane returned to the United States in 2017 to work originally at the NoMad after four years working to develop the cocktail community in Mexico City. Her tenures in México include head bartender at Artemisia Bar, Colonia Roma, opening Bar Director at Hanky-Panky Cocktail Bar, and Bar Manager/Head Bartender of Felina Bar. As well as a bartending career, Berit Jane also follows an academic writing career with her first book, 99 Problems to be told to a plant & The Excavation of Its Future Memory, published in 2015. Berit Jane’s forthcoming publication is the dissertation completing her doctorate in philosophy at The European Graduate School (Saas-Fee, Switzerland & Malta) with a focus on ethics, hospitality, and material engagement.
