Producer Profile: Frei Brothers

With over a century of family heritage in California’s Sonoma Valley, Frei Brothers has helped shape the region into what it is today. Named for the two sons, Walter & Louis, of Switzerland born founder Andrew Frei, the 1890 founded winery has had the opportunity to establish roots in the community.

Long standing relationships with local growers gives them an advantage when selecting the best possible fruit for their yearly bottlings. Over the years they have also focused on pinpointing the best microregions for growing specific varieties. Their pledge to work with the best natural resource starts even before harvest, with a commitment to work in support of mother nature by using environmentally friendly farming techniques to care for the vineyards.

The Frei Brothers 2018 UWC submissions included a diverse line up of wines, including high scoring 2016 Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc with 95 Points, and 2015 Dry Creek Valley Reserve Zinfandel with 92 Points.

This year Frei Brothers has focused on relief efforts for their friends and neighbors in Sonoma County after the devastating fires in partnership with the Sonoma County Foundation.
