Producer Profile: West Cork Distillers

A passion project from its inception in 2003, West Cork is the only Irish-owned distillery to exclusively malt it’s own barley and use local spring water. The founders, who began as childhood friends, take great pride in the careful sourcing of their ingredients from start to finish to produce a whiskey that lives up to their standards.

In addition to their thoughtfully sourced Irish grown barley, they have hand selected a team of master blenders who have over 80 years of combined experience in order to maximize the expertise that goes into crafting each batch. They use pot stills exclusively for both malted and non-malted barley and grain for better quality control. After distillation, every single batch is meticulously taste tested by the distilling team.

Their offerings include a 10 year single malt, a cask strength, multiple limited 12 year old bottlings, plus two new special releases under the Glengarriff Series. The new series features charred barrels that employ a proprietary device designed by a fifth generation blacksmith using fuel from the iconic Glengarriff Forest in southern Ireland. Of their 7 submissions to the 2017 Ultimate Spirit Challenge, 3 of them scored 95 Points or higher as Finalists and also received Great Value awards.
