It seems like there’s a new brand of Mezcal entering the United States every week! The opportunity to have the spirits blind tasted alongside other established brands by world class spirits judges has its benefits. Los Vecinos Del Campo submitted two mezcales to the 2018 Ultimate Spirits Challenge and both earned high scores of 94 Points, with the Espadin also winning a Great Value award.
Powerful aromas of baked pineapple and canned pineapple juice have an earthy core. It’s all spice up front in the mouth, quickly moving to roasted tropical fruits, tenger young ginger, and green bell peppers.
An earthy funk permeates the nose with floral undertones and wafts of citrus zest. There’s a pleasant touch of sweetness in the mouth, followed by powerful ripe tropical fruits like mango and custard apple. A spiced finish leaves the tongue tingling.
